Neuro-development of Words - NOW!

Mental Imagery for Language, Comprehension, Memory and Reasoning

Teach your students to create movies in the "mind's eye" as they read or listen - making comprehension so much stronger and more meaningful.

with Dr. T.W. Conway, Neuro-psychologist, USA

For some students words just seem to “go in one ear and out the other”. This is because they do not create a mental image as they read. Most teachers try to remediate comprehension difficulties by practicing increasingly difficult passages. This is not an effective technique because it does not attend to the core deficit (the inability to create mental images). However NOW! Mental Imagery for Language, Comprehension, Memory and Reasoning teaches students to apply concept imagery to reading comprehension, oral language comprehension, following directions, and higher order thinking. In addition, NOW! Mental Imagery has a strong component of expressive language so that writing skills are also enhanced. These procedures are effective for all ages.

Welcome to the Dyslexia Association

Welcome to the Dyslexia Association of Trinidad and Tobago

The Dyslexia Association is a volunteer organization which was formed in 1990 by a group of teachers and parents concerned for their dyslexic children.  The Dyslexia Association is a Registered Charity.

The aims of The Dyslexia Association:

  •  To be a support group for dyslexics, parents and teachers
  • To educate the community about these often misunderstood learning differences which affect so many of our bright and talented children
  • To train as many teachers as possible in methods for teaching dyslexics
  • To work with the Ministry of Education in an attempt to have a Specially Trained Teacher in every school

What we do

Conduct Training Courses in Specific Methods for Teaching Dyslexics.

Refer children and adult dyslexics for screening and specialist tutoring.

The Bursary Fund Committee raises funds to help finance lessons for students whose parents would find it difficult to manage these individualized lessons.
The Association also has a register of Educational Psychologists for referral for assessments.
Conduct Public awareness sessions on Dyslexia and related learning difficulties.
