History of Training

  • The Association has now trained over 400 teachers in specific methods to teach people with this different learning ability.
  • The teachers are from Public and Private Schools all over Trinidad and Tobago.
  • The Association has conducted training for thirty Special Education Teachers for the Student Support Services of the Ministry of Education.
        • Additionally,
          Thirty teachers have received training in the Dyslexia Institute, U.K. Math Programme.
          Twenty-five teachers have received training in the Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing (LiPS) programme. This innovative programme uses the feel of the mouth and the lips to reach severely disabled readers who are unable to access phonemic awareness otherwise.
          Forty teachers have received training in the Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing programme for Comprehension and Expressive Language.


Funding has been provided for:-

two teachers to attend the Berkshire Math Course, U.K. conducted by Mahesh Sharma attendance at the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) conferences in the U.S.

three teachers for the Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET).  This training is accredited by the British Psychological Society.
